Overview

The Communications Specialist is responsible for designing, creating, and overseeing visual communication strategies to support the organization’s brand identity, marketing efforts, and overall communications objectives. This role involves managing visual content across digital platforms, ensuring consistency, creativity, and alignment with organizational messaging. The position requires advanced skills in graphic design, visual storytelling, multimedia production, and branding.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop a comprehensive strategic communication plan that defines audiences, channels, delivery methods, frequency, timeframes, and success metrics.
  • Lead creation of a strategic partnership engagement strategy to strengthen collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Produce and disseminate branded, Section 508–compliant communication and promotional materials using plain language and clear communication principles.
  • Monitor campaign effectiveness to ensure updates reach critical audiences; analyze performance and identify challenges and opportunities to improve outreach.
  • Facilitate ongoing communication and collaboration between DLS/TWDB and partner organizations, serving as a connective hub for messages and materials.
  • Support program representation at meetings by describing training activities and delivering live demonstrations of eLearning and VR courses.
  • Maintain timely status updates on communication action items, milestones, and deliverables; track progress and coordinate reviews.
  • Meet contract deliverable timelines, including draft and final strategic communication plans, partnership engagement strategies, and iterative 508 compliant assets (e.g., social media posts, fliers, infographics).

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Multimedia Design, or a related field.
  • Five (5) years of experience in visual communication, graphic design, or a related field, with a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in visual storytelling and brand development.
    Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, After Effects).
  • Strong knowledge of digital design tools, such as Figma, Sketch, and other UX/UI design software.
  • Expertise in video production, motion graphics, and animation.
  • Exceptional creativity and attention to detail.
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with web design principles (HTML/CSS) is a plus.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree.
  • Experience supporting federal or state government agencies, particularly public-health focused agencies such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Pay Range

USD $115,000.00 - USD $127,000.00 /Yr.
