Overview

The mission of the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC) prevent injury, overdose, suicide, and violence across the lifespan through science and action. NCIPC is challenged with quickly implementing new priorities while continuing to execute its core public health mission and responding to new and emerging threats, such as the opioid public health emergency and community violence. NCIPC seems support to execute these activities.

Responsibilities

The Contractor(s) in this position will work closely with NCIPC Staff and Program Evaluators to support recipients for up to five tribal programs. This role will provide post-award guidance to recipients on administrative requirements and assistance in successfully completing tasks, milestones, and work cycles. This role will ensure that NCIPC program staff have timely access to important recipient information (e.g., revised workplans, budgets, and reports) and will assist and support these staff with project management and administrative actions, work plan and budget issues, and Office of Grant Services (OGS) engagement, as needed. In addition to these administrative tasks, this role will conduct technical review of recipient work plans and budget narratives and provide feedback for proposed revisions or other content reviews in a timely manner.

 

Core Functions:

  • Program Oversight and Monitoring: Provide day-to-day technical and programmatic guidance to recipients of federal funds, ensuring adherence to project goals, timelines, and federal regulations. Monitor recipient performance through site visits, progress reports, and regular communications. Coordinate communications with recipients to discuss progress on multiple programs, where possible, to realize efficiencies for both CDC and recipients.
  • Project Planning and Implementation: Participate in the planning and development of new public health initiatives. Assist in designing program strategies, scopes of work, logic models, and performance measures. Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to support program goals.
  • Grant and Cooperative Agreement Management: Serve as the main point of contact for grantees on programmatic matters. Work collaboratively with grants management and budget staff to ensure timely funding, proper use of resources, and compliance with applicable federal laws and agency policies.
  • Data and Reporting: Review recipient program evaluation data and reports to assess performance, identify trends, and recommend improvements. Prepare briefing materials, technical reports, and presentations to communicate findings to leadership and interest holders.
  • Technical Assistance: Provide subject matter expertise and capacity-building support to grantees and partners, including identifying resources, facilitating peer-to-peer learning, and disseminating best practices.
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain productive relationships with federal, state, tribal, local, and community-based partners. Represent the agency in inter-agency workgroups, task forces, and meetings to align activities with broader public health goals.

Qualifications

  • BS 8-10, MS 6-8, or PhD 3-5; Master's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or a related field.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines at once
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of public health systems, policies, and social determinants of health.
  • Experience supporting federal or state government agencies, particularly public-health focused agencies such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
  • Extensive experience working with tribal programs, delivering direct assistance to tribal organizations
  • Previous project officer experience

Pay Range

USD $135,000.00 - USD $150,000.00 /Yr.
