Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly analytical Federal Financial Accountant to provide financial services for our federal government clients. The ideal candidate will have experience conducting fiscal audits, managing budgets, performing cost accounting, and delivering financial management services in compliance with federal policies. This position will also support field examinations and financial due diligence for government loan programs—assessing borrower financial condition, verifying collateral, and evaluating compliance with loan terms

Responsibilities

  • Conduct fiscal audits and support audit readiness in alignment with GAO, OMB, and agency-specific standards.
  • Perform field examinations of loan applicants and recipients, including review of financial statements, cash flows, and business operations to assess risk and ensure compliance with loan terms.
  • Analyze borrower financial condition and collateral coverage to support loan underwriting and portfolio monitoring.
  • Provide budget formulation, execution, and monitoring support in compliance with federal law.
  • Perform cost accounting and cost allocation analyses to support internal decision-making and reporting.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports and reconciliations in accordance with federal financial regulations.
  • Apply federal financial policies and standards, including FASAB, OMB Circulars (A-11, A-123, A-136), and the GAO Green Book.
  • Collaborate with program managers, acquisition staff, and technical teams to ensure financial integrity across projects.
  • Support audit documentation, findings remediation, and financial system data integrity efforts.
  • Use federal financial systems (e.g., Momentum, Oracle, SAP, or others) to manage data, track performance, and generate reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in government financial management, audit, or loan program support.
  • Prior experience performing field exams, financial due diligence, or loan servicing for public sector clients.
  • Understanding of internal controls, financial risk indicators, and credit evaluation principles.
  • Familiarity with federal loan programs, field examination procedures, and collateral verification techniques.
  • Knowledge of federal financial regulations, including GAAP for federal entities and OMB/GAO guidance.
  • Proficiency with financial management and accounting systems used in the federal environment.
  • Strong analytical, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Must be available for travel

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or actively pursuing CPA.
  • Experience supporting federal lending programs (e.g., DoD, DOE, USDA, SBA, or Treasury loan programs).

Pay Range

USD $175,000.00 - USD $225,000.00 /Yr.
