Overview

The Health Communications Specialist II is responsible for supporting communication efforts that promote public health awareness and education. This position involves creating and distributing content that informs the public, healthcare professionals, and stakeholders about health programs, policies, and research. The specialist works under supervision, collaborating with teams to ensure effective messaging across various channels.

Responsibilities

  • Content Development: Assist in the creation of health education materials such as website content, presentations, etc.
  • Campaign Support: Assist in the planning, development, and implementation of health communication campaigns that raise awareness of health initiatives, diseases, and preventive measures.
  • Research and Analysis: Collect and analyze data on target audiences to tailor messages and communication strategies effectively. Stay updated on public health trends, research, and best practices.
  • Collaboration: Work with public health teams to develop outreach strategies and communication tools.
  • Evaluation: Assist in evaluating the impact of health communication efforts, including measuring audience reach, message effectiveness, and campaign success.
  • Compliance: Ensure all communications adhere to organizational policies, industry standards, and regulations regarding health information privacy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Health, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in health communications, public relations, or marketing, ideally in a federal/governmental environment.
  • Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with health literacy principles.
  • Ability to manage multiple communication-related projects.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work closely with internal and external stakeholder.
  • Meticulous in proofreading and ensuring messaging consistency across all materials.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting federal or state government agencies.

Pay Range

USD $105,000.00 - USD $105,000.00 /Yr.
